ABOUT
US
The concept for the Dragonfly
Center came from a desire to share what makes us happy, namely
art, positive living, sharing with others, and just plain fun!
The
owner of the Dragonfly Center, Monica
Hagen, is a San Diego native. A lifelong animal lover and
artist, she earned her Bachelor's degree in English (minor in fine
art) from Pomona College and a teaching credential and Master's
degree in Education from Claremont Graduate University. She taught
public school for nine years, supervised student teachers at SDSU
for five years, and taught ESL (English as a Second Language) at
Sweetwater Adult School. At the Chapel of Awareness in Encinitas,
she studied meditation for six years, and spent many hours studying
Therapeutic Touch with Diana Thompson, a student of world-renowned
animal therapist Linda Tellington-Jones.
Monica edited, wrote,
photographed and published SAN DIEGO ANIMAL NEWS, a holistic animal
newspaper, wrote two novels, and edited dozens more. Teaching experience
includes creative writing, editing, fine art, crafts, social studies,
gardening, jewelry-making, feng shui, photography, design, use of
color, health, personal growth, and journaling. She loves to make
art, share art, and promote other artists, and spent much of her
life exploring alternative healing methods and Eastern philosophies
and practices.
She lives with her human
and animal family in El Cajon.
Other staff members include
professional artists, physicians, and others at the top of their
careers. These are people choosing to further the philosophy of
the dragonfly, one of positive living and transformation, and are
dedicated to sharing their knowledge and skills with others, often
on a volunteer basis.
Come join us
for the Dragonfly experience—art, health, and a world
of possibilities, where energies flow and people celebrate life.
Complete class lists
are available at the center and by
